How To Create A WordPress Website Using SiteGround

Want to learn how to create a website on SiteGround and start making money?

You're probably thinking: building a blog/website is so complicated, I'm not technically adept, and I don't have the funds to hire a developer.

It's too hard for me!

Don't worry. Many webmasters and bloggers are just like you, but many of them are reaping huge profits every day!

Creating a website does not require many start-up costs. $5~$10 per month is enough. Moreover, you don't need to learn any technical knowledge related to programming. You just need to know what WordPress is and how to use it. WordPress is so simple that I believe you can master it completely within a week.

Note: I'm not saying that hiring a designer or developer is a complete waste of money, absolutely not.

They are professionals and highly respected. But if you are very tight on money, then it's perfectly fine to start a website alone, learn and perfect it as you go, and then invest in professionals when you make enough profit.

What's the difference between a blog and a website

Basically, a blog is a website, but a website is not necessarily a blog.

A blog is a website where all posts are listed in chronological order on the home page or in a category, with the most recent posts displayed at the top.

Do you need a blog or website?

The answer is yes! You can display the latest articles on your website, or set your homepage to static text, relevant service information, etc. Top Ten Reviews is our blog and a commercial website, and we have placed some static content on the homepage.

The advantage of blogging is that you can create more content, which helps to find online business through SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and eventually translate into profits.

Preparation before creating a blog/website

To make website building easy to understand, we use the house as an analogy: visitors are guests you invite to your home (website) to enjoy a delicious meal (blog content)!

  1. Domain Name
  2. Your address. This is the URL where people can find your blog, e.g. the domain name for 10 Best Reviews is thatmy.com.
  3. CMS (WordPress)
  4. Your kitchen. In this post, we'll be using WordPress, the Content Management System (CMS) is the back-end administration area of your blog in order to allow you (the administrator) to control and adjust the content of your website. This is where you write posts, update themes, and manage plugins.
  5. Theme
  6. The look of the house. The theme is the design template and also the look of the website. You may want it to look beautiful as it helps to attract more visitors.
  7. Web Hosting
  8. Your land. You need a place where you can build your house and web hosting is the location where all your blog files are stored.

6 Steps to Launch a WordPress Website

  1. 1. Choose a hosting plan
  2. 2. Choose a domain name
  3. 3. Fill in the information
  4. 4. Install WordPress
  5. 5. Choose a WordPress theme
  6. 6. Start making great content!
  7. Choose a hosting plan

Before you can build a house, you need a piece of land.

Go to the official SiteGround website and choose a web hosting plan. If you are just starting out with blogging, use the most basic and affordable StartUp plan. But remember: StartUp only allows you to host one website, with the GrowBig plan you can host an unlimited number of sites. As your site grows, you can always upgrade your hosting plan later on.

  1. Choose a domain name

How do visitors find your house? Corresponding to that, you need a domain name to provide an address for the blog.

How do I get a domain name? You can purchase one at SiteGround for $15.95/year as part of the registration process.

Alternatively, you can purchase a domain name from another company and enter an existing domain name in this step. In our case, we purchased our domain name through GoDaddy, but use SiteGround for web hosting.

  1. The best domain name registrar
  2. Don't waste too much time on this step or your blog may never start. Keep in mind that you can always change the domain name later and also migrate it from one company to another. For example, if we want, then we can migrate an existing domain name from GoDaddy to SiteGround.
  3. How to choose a domain name
  4. Fill in the information

In this step, you will create a username and password, fill in contact and payment information, and then select the hosting term. We recommend choosing a minimum of 12 months because if you choose only 1 month, then you will have to pay an additional $14.95 setup fee.

  1. Domain Privacy is necessary to hide your registration information so that no one can search through the domain name to find the corresponding personal data. If you have enough budget, then we recommend checking the box.
  2. SG Site Scanner is a monitoring service that performs a program that scans your website periodically and sends you notification alerts whenever it encounters any unusual or dangerous conditions. For a brand new website, this service may not be so important and can be purchased later when you earn money.

We check all of them and click the CONTINUE button to go to the next step.

SiteGround starts to install themes and plugins to your website, the whole process is fully automated, after about 1~2 minutes, all features are installed.

Click the GO TO DASHBOARD button to enter the WordPress dashboard, and click VIEW SITE to view your website.

Tip: In the WordPress dashboard, go to Settings → General to switch the language. Since we enabled SSL certificate in front, please change WordPress Address and Site Address to start with https here:.

After clicking the Save Changes button, you may be forced to log out of the login. Please don't worry, this is because we have changed http to https here, and it will not automatically log you out when you make changes later.

  1. Start making great content!

Now that your site is officially online, the real work begins! You must go into the kitchen and prepare delicious meals for your guests!

Our biggest piece of advice to new bloggers is: don't worry about posting new articles every day, or even every week, the most effective work is to post quality content. Take the time to do your research, write a blog post that solves someone's problem, think about what people are searching for and how you can help them solve it.

Always keep in mind that the quality of the article is far more important than the quantity!
